NSW: Coaliton denies plans to abolish land tax
SYDNEY, Feb 5 AAP - The NSW opposition today denied a report it promised to abolishland tax, but said it would be a key issue for review if it won government.
A community newspaper (eds: Penrith Press) reported Opposition Leader John Brogdencommitting a coalition government to removing land tax, a promise NSW Treasurer MichaelEgan said would cost $1 billion a year.
"Until now, Mr Brogden has been stating that his sole land tax policy was the abolitionof the premium property tax, the tax paid by people whose home has a land value of $1.68million or more," Mr Egan said.
